International projects

UNAWE will also organise projects that are implemented across more than one country, reinforcing the concept of glabal citizenship, which is one of the programme's main goals.

During the International Year of Astronomy 2009 (IYA2009), a travelling science education project called GalileoMobile brought astronomy to young people in remote villages across South America. Following the success of this project, UNAWE is currently planning more international projects.

Painting by Countries: A Global UNAWE Art Project in which a large canvas will be gradually decorated with children’s paintings of the Earth during a worldwide tour.

Project Miradas: The UNAWE UNESCO Mobile travels through Central America to engage countries lacking a national UNAWE node with science through astronomy.

Constellation: A GalileoMobile project brings together schools from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru to create a South American network of schools committed to bringing the exciting world of astronomy closer to their students.

Eratosthenes UNAWE Andean Countries is a yearly project across the Andean region that invited schools to measure the circumference of the Earth as Eratosthenes did around 240 BC.
