Astronomers vs. Kids Available Now
15 April 2013

EU-UNAWE is delighted to announce the release of a brand new educational tool: Astronomers vs. Kids! We've created two videos specifically for use by educators, to help them introduce the hottest topics in astronomy to the classroom, answer the most fundamental questions about the Universe and incite a passion for astronomy in curious young students.

Astronomers vs. Kids introduces children to the exciting research taking place in astronomy today using real astronomers working at the forefront of the subject. The first two episodes are all about “Supernovas” and “The Expanding Universe”, taught by someone who really knows what he’s talking about — special guest Professor Brian Schmidt, winner of the 2011 Nobel prize for physics for his discovery of the accelerated expansion of the Universe.

In the two 5-minute episodes that are released today, Schmidt takes on an audience of primary school children aged 9-11, who challenge him to tackle the key questions: “How do you measure distances in Space?”, “Is the Universe expanding?” and “What was there before the Big Bang?”

Both videos are available now online for free: "Supernovas" (Youtube) and "The Expanding Universe" (Youtube). English subtitles are available now on Youtube and more languages are coming soon.

Watch the new episodes below, and keep an eye out for more educational videos from EU-UNAWE in future!
