Timbuktu's New Kids on the Block!
10 May 2013

The April 2013 edition of the Timbuktu digital magazine features it's first Space Scoop, “New Kids on the Block”. The article introduced the young audience to our solar neighbourhood; by proxy, teaching them that the Universe is vast and ancient, and that the Sun is a star; and one of many millions just in our sections of the Universe.

Timbuktu is a digital children's magazine for the ipad, designed to provide children aged 6-10 with educational and entertaining reading material in a format that is interactive, playful and easy to navigate. The creators share the view that children deserve to be involved in what happens around them and focus heavily on featuring the latest news and current events in the magazine. A wide range of topics are covered in the monthly publication, from literature and vocabulary building to mathematics, science and current events.

The astronomical images released with Space Scoop are always the highest quality and, like UNAWE, the creators of Timbuktu believe that great design and illustrations are a major ingredient of a successful children's magazine.

After all, kids deserve visually pleasing news as much as adults and it can enhance their sensitivity towards the awesomeness of the Universe. Timbuktu Magazine is subscription based, you can subscribe on a monthly or annual basis directly from itunes.
