EUMETSAT competition: Build a weather satellite in Minecraft
23 January 2015

Earlier this month, EUMETSAT launched a Minecraft satellite building competition called Build a weather satellite in Minecraft.

The organisation invites 6 to 16 year olds to build a weather satellite in Minecraft, a video game that allows you to create 3D structures by placing and breaking blocks. Contestants can participate by recreating an existing EUMETSAT weather satellite or by being creative and designing their own satellite from scratch.

All competition entries will be displayed on the EUMETSAT’s youth education website Learning Zone. The prizes for the winners and runners-up of each category include Lego Mindstorm EV3 Kits and Raspberry Pi starter kits. The closing date for submissions is April 30 2015.

For more information about the competition, EUMETSAT and its satellites, visit EUMETSAT’s Learning zone website. Here you can also learn about EUMETSAT’s activities regarding spacecraft, weather, climate, atmosphere and oceans through a variety of interactive images.

EUMETSAT is the European satellite agency for the launch and operation of Europe’s weather satellites. The agency is also responsible for monitoring weather, climate and the environment.
