2015 International Science Education and Public Outreach Conferences

We have compiled a list of upcoming international science education and public outreach conferences that are relevant to the UNAWE network. The list consists of conferences that address a variety of topics, such as curriculum planning, science teacher training, fostering early learning, citizen science and communicating astronomy with the public. The list also includes our own Universe Awareness International Workshop in October 2015, so please mark it in your calendar!

NARST stands for A Worldwide Organization for Improving Science Teaching and Learning Through Research. Since its inception in 1928, NARST has promoted research in science education and the communication of knowledge generated by the research. The ultimate goal of NARST is to help all learners achieve science literacy.

 

Science & You's "Journées Hubert Curien" Conference and Forum

Citizen science, public engagement, open science, links between science and politics, between science and art, between science and society. These are a few of the themes that will be discussed during 3 days of plenaries and workshop sessions at the Centre Prouvé of Nancy, on the occasion of the "Journées Hubert Curien" Conference.

 

ECSITE Annual Conference 2015: Food for curious minds

The 2015 Ecsite Annual Conference will take place in the alpine city of Trento (Italy), 11-13 June. It will be hosted by MUSE, Trento’s new science museum designed by Renzo Piano, nestled in the Dolomites mountains.

From 17-20 June 2015, 350 primary and secondary school teachers from all over Europe and Canada will be buzzing around over four days in London. Under the motto “Illuminating Science Education” teachers will enthuse each other and share experiments and teaching ideas for science, technology and mathematics education at stands, in workshop and on stage.

6 - 7 August:  Focus Meeting: Communicating Astronomy With the Public in the Big Data Era
IAU Commission 55 would like to organise a focus meeting on astronomy communication. The focus will be on the new role of the researcher in astronomy communication. 

13 - 14 August: Focus Meeting: Astronomy for Development
Topics will include: The IAU Strategic Plan and the IAU Office of Astronomy for Development, OAD Call for proposals and funded projects, global projects relating to Astronomy for Development, including citizen science, monitoring and evaluation and long term goals, among other things

 

Global HOU Conference and International Teacher Training and Collaboration Meeting
Honolulu, Hawaii
August 3 - 5: Conference and International Teacher Training
August 8 - 9: Annual Collaboration Meeting

The GHOU 2015 conference will be focused on improving and propagating Galileo Teacher Training and Global Hands-On Universe in Hawaii and throughout the world. More information will be announced soon.

 

ICPE 2015 - The International Conference on Physics Education

The main objective is the exchange of scientific information and views among the members of the international scientific community in the general field of Physics Education. The general focus of this conference is Engaging Students in Physics – Research and Practice.

Conference of the European Science Education Research Association
Helsinki, Finland
31 August - 4 September

The theme of the conference will be "Science Education Research for Evidence-based Teaching and Coherence in Learning".

 

Universe Awareness International Workshop
Leiden, the Netherlands
5 - 9 October

The workshop will include keynote speakers, working groups, a visit to the European Space Agency, a resource fair for children and a special workshop about the Rosetta mission.The UNAWE International Workshop programme and additional information will be announced soon.
